How far in advance should I plan my pet's trip?
Usually about three months are sufficient. However, with countries like Australia you have to plan a year. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

How far in advance can animals be booked as cargo?
Depending on the airline, flights can be booked two to four weeks in advance.

Is it possible to get a seat on the plane at short notice?
If the airline still allows it, something like this can be set up. However, higher costs can arise.

Can I book my animal as freight myself?
No, unfortunately that is not possible. Airlines only allow pets to be checked in by accredited pet carriers. The only exception is if you book the animal as excess baggage.

How much should I expect to pay for my pet to fly?
Depending on the size and destination, the costs can only be determined individually. For a cost inquiry, please contact us by phone or email.

When do I have to be at the airport with my pet?
If you bring your animal over, you must be with us four hours before departure.

Can my animal also be picked up at my home?
Yes, our vehicles for road transport are all climate-controlled and able to carry out collections throughout Germany.

What kind of box do I need for my animal?
You need an animal transport box suitable for air travel. This must have a metal mesh door, louvers on the sides and back, fixed with screws around the edges and no other opening except at the front. The animal must be able to stand and sit upright inside without touching the top of the box. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

How is it in the hold for the animals?
The part where your animal will be housed is air-conditioned, pressure-balanced and illuminated by a dim light.

Can I give my animal tranquilizers for the flight?
No, this has been expressly forbidden by the airlines. Sedated animals will not be flown.

May I put a toy in the box?
Unfortunately, toys are not permitted. However, we recommend that you give a t-shirt you have worn, for example.

What happens if a flight is delayed or canceled?
We will be informed by the airline immediately in such a case. If the flight is completely canceled for the day, your animal will remain in the Lufthansa Animal Lounge, where trained animal keepers will look after the animals.
